Until 2 February 2020
The big monographic exhibition dedicated to the famous woodworker, founder and goldsmith.
The Galleria Borghese, which already has hosted a few famous masterpieces by Luigi Valadier (1726-1785), such as l’Erma di Bacco and the double work ‘Tavoli dodecagonali’, in this monographic exhibition is shown the extraordinary success that Valadier had in the mid 18th century, with his originality and his international touch of his production.
The works in loan vary from huge silver lamps for the sanctuary of Santiago de Compostela, to ‘San Giovanni Battista del Battistero Lateranense’, on view for the first time outside their location of origin. An important section will be dedicated to drawings fundamental to understand the master’s creative process such as the study room in the house of via del Babuino, churches, buildings and places which have been accurately described by means of multimedia totems.
