Until 6 January
At the Scuderie del Quirinale one can admire, for the first time all gathered together, the vestiges of the two archaeological sites, among the most important and best-preserved in the world.
The exhibition, curated by Massimo Osanna, director of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii and by Demetrios Athanasoulis, director of the Eforia of the Antiquities of the Cyclades, with Luigi Gallo and Luana Toniolo, is the result of an institutional collaboration and proposes an unprecedented comparison through innovative reconstructions and the selection of precious findings, which in many cases have never been exposed to the public before. The tour is designed as a journey through time to discover the two ancient cities, Pompeii and Santorini, united by an identical purpose and preserved over the millennia by volcanic ashes. More than three hundred objects including statues, frescoes, vases, reliefs, gems, incunabuli and paintings, have traced back a chronological arc of three thousand and five hundred years, from the Bronze Age to the present day. An immersive story through the rooms of the Scuderie del Quirinale, transfigured by an installation that winds through reconstructions of rooms with everyday objects and video art projections.
