A written request is required in order to visit the excavations under St. Peter’s. It must be made at least 8 days in advance, sometimes 30 days, to the Excavations Office, specifying number of visitors and names and addresses, language and preferred date. The request may be sent by fax or e-mail or by completing a form directly at the Office (to the right past the Arch of the Bells). The Office will confirm date and time of the guided tour (lasting approximately 2 hours).
Opening hours: Monday-Friday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Closed on Sundays holidays.
