PrintE-mail

_roma-ostiaOn 26 February the 38th edition of one of the most popular running events in the whole of Italy takes place: the Roma-Ostia. The race, which is run over 21,097 metres and was first conceived in 1974 by Luciano Duchi, is exciting the same passions and enthusiasm as ever and this year hopes to attract over 12,000 participants.  The route will be the same as last year, starting at the PalaLottomatica in EUR, heading along Viale dell’Oceano Pacifico and then Via Cristoforo Colombo, and ending at the famous rotunda in Ostia, and this year the event boasts the prestigious IAAF Silver Label for road races. Some of the greatest international marathon and half-marathon runners will battle for the record, putting in their best personal performances. The Roma-Ostia race not only attracts professional and amateur runners from the world over, but for the second consecutive year the event also has a section open to Romans of every age who can take part in the non-competitive Euroma2Run.
No need to register in order to take part, all you need is a desire to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the capital’s half-marathon by following the first 5,000 metres of the official race from the starting line.
Details of how to register for the competition and the non-competitive event can be found on the website www.romaostia.it.
